Tyler Presnell:

Presnell was on life support, spent six weeks in a coma, and had 21 different surgeries that left over 13 feet of scars on his body, after his friend lost control of their car causing Presnell's door to crash into a telephone pole at roughly 70mph. The accident happened because Presnell's friend was trying to get airborne going over some hills near their high school. The first 18 months after the accident his struggles were major but today they are  minor. Presnell says that it takes himself about 20 minutes every morning just to remember what he did the day before.  Today, Presnell spends his days talking to young teen drivers about the importance of safe driving and he brings awareness to his cause. " Someone dies in a car accident every 12 minutes, someone gets a serious brain injury-way beyond repair- every 15 seconds." (Albrecht, B. 2010, August 15).

Tyler Presnell was in a life-changing car accident while he was in high school but he didn't let that control his life. Now he travels all over to tell his story and bring awareness to teen car accidents. He is taking something very negative and turning it into something very positive for other people.

Stories

Danielle Goldberg:

Goldberg was a passenger in a car with her two other friends on a hot day in Arizona. They were on their way home from spending the day swimming when their car rolled off of 100-foot cliff. The driver was the only one without her seatbelt on and she was the only one who was thrown from the car. She was thrown from the car and as the car flipped, it landed right on top of her. The only thing that saved her life was the fact that the dent on the car's roof landed perfectly on top of her. "I just remember we had gone really fast around this corner and the car started to lean over, and we all kind of had that moment of, 'Oh crap, this going to happen,' and then the car just started rolling," (Danielle Goldberg). The police officers at the scene said that their was no sign of drugs or alcohol taking part in the accident. Everyone involved only had minor injuries. (Johnson, J. 2015, April 03)

This story goes to show that major accidents can happen in just the blink of an eye and all it took was going a little too fast around a corner to send these girls lives spiraling out of control.
